Happy Teachers' Day

Happy Teachers' Day to all teachers out there. You have no idea how much you touched your students' life.
To my beloved teachers, mudah-mudahan cikgu semua sihat dan diberkati Allah sentiasa.

This is my daughter's gift for her teacher but I don't know why she forgot to bring it to school today eventhough I had called from my office to remind her. Dahlah esok cuti. So she's bringing it on Wednesday. Jadilah belated teachers' day....;-(

Hydrangea Brooch

Last Thursday night was very productive. I did 8 pieces of hydrangea brooch while watching TV. You know, I can't watch TV without doing anything... I will do my crafting, ironing, doing Sudoku or just doodling while watching TV. That's why I'm not much into Korean movies (which my son loves so much) because then I will have to concentrate and read the subtitles while watching, which to me is very unproductive.;-)

Only One Mother in The Whole World

Remember I said that I will tell about the cross stitch that I initially did for my mom but kept it for myself instead?  Well, that happened a few years back when a friend, K.Midah showed me a book that her son gave. In it were poems, etc about mothers. Very lovely book indeed and I decided to make a cross stitch based on an excerpt from a poem (author unknown).

Most of all the other beautiful things in life came by twos and threes,
by dozens and hundreds,
Plenty of roses, stars and sunsets, rainbows,
brothers and sisters, aunts and cousins,
But only one mother in the whole world

For the border, I used a chart I bought in my hometown a few years earlier (very cheap) which I had stashed and almost forgotten about it (Luckily I remember where I stashed it). I began with stitching the borders first....I always love flowery design. So when I saw the flowers beginning to take shape one by one, it was motivation enough to keep on going. The hard part was trying to fit in all the above excerpt right in the middle of the design. I had to decide on the right font size and it was quite difficult to do. But I did it anyway. Here's the result.

OK, closer view...

After I completed framing and all, that's when I realized that I should keep this piece myself as a constant reminder...I felt that it would meant more to me than to my mom (afterall she doesn't speak English). This piece has a pride of place in my living room and whenever I look at it, my mom comes to my mind. I love you Mak!

Say it With Patchwork & Buttons

I made this keychain with guys in mind. No, not because I have many boyfriends, naughty you! It's because I imagine what kind of keychain would we give to the men in our lives. Takkan nak bagi keychain yang very feminine, yang orang sekali pandang pun tau keychain ladies punya. Mesti guys pun malu nak that kind of keychain kan? So, I came up with this keychain. A bit big in size (3.5" wide), black and to make it look more masculine, I use PVC.

Mother's Day Special

During my journey back to my hometown last Sunday, I managed to complete these 2 car hanging especially done for the upcoming Mother's Day. Since it's for mothers, I tried to make it as sweet as possible with small roses as embellishments. To those who are interested, you can place your order now. It's only RM5 each. You can give it to your mom or you can even keep it for yourself. Hey, I've actually done that a few years back when I made a cross stitch piece which I wanted to give to my mom but then I decided to keep it for myself as a constant reminder... I'll write all about that cross stitch in my next post.

Brooch

I've added danglings felt and beads to add glamour to the felt flower brooches that I made previously. Some people may like it simple but if you're like me, I have always loved an extra something. I used Millefiori beads and Japanese seed beads for the danglings.

I'll upload more photos when I've made other colors...
Till then, cheers!

Items For Sale

Hi everyone.

It' been a very tiring weekend for me. Been doing house chores that have been pending for the whole of last week (been too busy to even do housework!). Nonetheless, in between waiting for my washing machine to complete it's washing cycle, I managed to make these brooches. It's about 5cm wide and my daughter thinks it's gonna make a lovely present for her teacher for Teachers' Day next month. I have to agree with her on that.

Till then, take care.
